New Coaching Framework Announced by Sports Coach UK
Posted on Aug 24, 2007 under Athletics, Disability sport, Sport Relief, Winter Sports, World Results |This week Sports Coach UK announced their new UK Coaching Framework, which is designed "to create a cohesive, ethical, inclusive and valued coaching system where skilled coachessupport children, adults, players and athletes at all stages of theirdevelopment in sport, and that is world-leading by 2016".
The emphasis appears to be not only on elite sport, but on helping create coaches that can build participation at grass-roots level too. The framework will also create a clearer career structure for sports coaches, "within a professionally regulated vocation".
I'd be particularly interested to find out if anyone knows more about this. I was only able to find the executive summary of the framework. The rest of the story is here.

On a related note: I am currently developing some sports coach development workshops, using Reversal Theory as a framework to help coaches become more aware of their own motivational orientation and become more effective; build a more positive motivational climate; and better understand their athletes.
If you are a head coach or otherwise employ coaches and would be interested in helping me to pilot these on an expenses-only basis, please contact me on 07739 411 383 (UK) or email me via my profile.
