Barry Bonds? 756th home run baseball to be auctioned off

21 year old Matt Murphy, the lucky fan who nabbed the lucky ball, is putting it up for auction.  He wishes he could keep it, but he is worried he will be taxed on it if he holds onto it.  Now I don’t know how you can get taxed on a baseball that you didn’t win as a prize, but we will leave that to the tax attorneys etc…

Either way, it will be auctioned online by Sotheby’s/SCP Auctions.  The web site for you curious types is: http://www.scpauctions.com/. The auction will begin August 28th and will end on September 15th.

Official estimates put the value of the prized ball at U.S. $500,000.  Not too shabby.
