Finland and Switzerland turned heads at the women's world hockey championship Tuesday, scoring upset victories to enhance their medal hopes.
Finland pulled out a 1-0 overtime win over the United States in Harbin, China, a game that preceded the Swiss' 4-3 triumph over Sweden, the 2006 Olympic silver medallists.
The closest Finland had previously come to a win against the Americans was a 3-3 tie at the 1997 world championships.

Slightly off topic tonight. Recently I made my second trip to Fairmont Mayakoba and helped with the PGA Tour event won by Brian Marvin Gay. Great tourney on my favourite Greg Norman design ! On the day after the event, from tees further back, Alan Carter of Jasper fired a three under. If he isn’t the best club pro this year, whoever is, is playing too much!
When you go into a Walmart (if you have to) in Canada or the USA you might notice that 99% of their crap (merchandise) is made in CHINA. Interestingly when you go into the Walmart south of Cancun, in MEXICO, most of their crap is made in the USA, Canada or Mexico.

The head of the International Olympic Committee says he was relieved that the San Francisco leg of the torch relay passed without major incident and is confident the Beijing Games will rebound from the relay "crisis."
The San Francisco relay "fortunately" avoided much of the turmoil and disruptions that marred the trek through London and Paris, said IOC president Jacques Rogge.
"It was, however, not the joyous party that we had wished it to be," said Rogge at the opening of a two-day executive board meeting in Beijing.
