As defending Stanley Cup champions, the Anaheim Ducks shouldn't require bulletin board fodder or messages on the dressing-room blackboard for motivation.

Just to proved how flawed the BCS system is Notre Dame is put into a BCS bowl game. Why? Not because they beat anybody this year that was any good. The two times they had to play good teams they got crushed by USC and Michigan. So, why does Notre Dame get a BCS bowl game. it’s real simple money.
The BCS doesn’t reward teams for playing tough schedules or habving a good season they know that Notre Dame brings a large following and the game will be televised Nationally and the Bowl game will make alot of money. This isn’t about finding the National Championship or rewarding kids for a great season it’s all about lining the pocketbooks. if you think it isn’t you better guess again.

I have just enjoyed a week’s vacation, and played a few rounds of golf. 5 in fact, and Bruce Harper you would have enjoyed them!
The first round was in Dublin, Ireland. The K-Club, scene of the Ryder Cup and numerous European PGA events. I played with a great group including the Head Professional Lynn McCool, the Head Pro at Gleneagles Russell Smith and a DJ named Spoony. The course reminded me of London Hunt for some reason. All the dog leg left holes made it easy to guess Arnold Palmer had designed it. The Hotel and Spa was excellent, very luxurious. The course is one of Arnie’s best, the company was tolerant and lots of fun.

Oklahoma State beat Alabama in the Independence Bowl 34 to 31. It was Oklahoma State’s first bowl game win since 2002. In the 4th quarter Oklahoma State almost gave away the game. Javier Arenas of Alabama returned a punt 86 yards for a touchdown to pull them within a touchdown. On the kickoff Grant Jones of Oklahoma State fumbled and Chris Rogers of Alabama recovered. Andra Smith of Alabama caught a lateral pass and ran 2 yards for the touchdown to tie the game. Dantrell Savage of Oklahoma State caught a screen pass and ran 26 yards to Alabama’s 15-yard line. Jason Ricks of Oklahoma State was about to take a field goal but Alabama iced him with 3 timeouts. He then came back on the field and nailed the field goal to win the game. Alabama’s late 4th quarter run wasn’t enough to win the game so Oklahoma State came away with a sloppy 4th quarter victory.

Scott Stevens has always been know as a tough guy on the ice, but last night he showed his softer side as the New Jersey Devils retired his number 4 jersey and became the first New Jersey Devil to have that honor. Stevens play on three Stanley Cup championship teams and help get the New Jersey Devils respect throughout the league again.
Many former players send videos and the devils gave him a pickup truck and a vintage bow and arrow as Stevens is an avid hunter. The crowd gave Stevens many standing ovations including a three minute non-stop one when he was introduced. He will be missed by the NHL family and all the Devils fans.
