The San Jose Sharks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after just 3:33, chasing Kiprusoff in the process, but Calgary scored four unanswered goals to record a thrilling 4-3 victory on home ice Sunday night in Game 3 of their Western Conference quarter-final.

The Tampa Bay Lightning won the NHL draft lottery held Monday night in New York.
The Lightning will draft first overall in the NHL draft at Ottawa on June 20.
The lottery is a weighted system used to determine the order of selection in the upcoming draft, with the 14 non-playoff teams competing.
That said, only the five teams with the lowest point totals in regular-season play got a crack at the first overall pick, with the Lightning having the best shot at 48.2 per cent.

Any jitters the Pittsburgh Penguins might have had heading into Wednesday’s playoff opener were erased in 68 seconds by veteran Gary Roberts.
Roberts scored twice, including 1:08 into the first period, as the Penguins skated to a 4-0 victory over the visiting Ottawa Senators in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarter-final.

Canada is off to a flying start at the women’s world hockey championship in Harbin, China.
Meghan Agosta scored a pair of goals, and goaltender Kim St. Pierre stopped 10 of 11 shots to pace Canada to an easy 8-1 win over Russia on Friday in the tournament’s opening Group A game.
Cherie Piper, Becky Kellar, Gina Kingsbury, Jennifer Botterill, Caroline Ouellette and Hayley Wickenheiser also scored for Canada.
Canada’s next game is against China on Sunday.

A 3-2 outcome in overtime can mean only one thing in this spring’s Stanley Cup playoffs — another showdown between the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild.
All three games in the opening-round series have been decided in OT by a 3-2 count, with Pierre-Marc Bouchard scoring 11:58 into the extra period to win Game 3 at the Pepsi Center on Monday night.

Scott Nichol of the Nashville Predators will be out of the lineup for at least the first round after breaking his thumb on Thursday night.
Nichol suffered the injury in the team’s 3-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings in Game 1 of the Western Conference quarter-final. The next game of the series takes place on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

The Canadian women’s hockey team dropped a clutch 4-2 decision to the Americans on Thursday, snapping a 29-game winning streak and granting their longtime rivals a berth in the world championship finals in Harbin, China.
The U.S. and Canada will square off in the finals for the 11th consecutive time on Saturday (7 a.m. ET).
The Canadians had a chance to eliminate the U.S. squad from the final and give Finland its first crack at the women’s world hockey title, but it was not to be.
