The Toronto Raptors rewarded Monday’s crowd of 18,855 with a 91-75 victory over the woeful Miami Heat on Fan Appreciation Night at the Air Canada Centre, but head coach Sam Mitchell might have appreciated a stronger effort.

The Detroit Red Wings started and finished strongly for a 4-2 victory over the Nashville Predators in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarter-final on Saturday afternoon.
Darren McCarty, Nicklas Lidstrom, Kris Draper and Tomas Holmstrom all scored for Detroit, which takes a 2-0 series lead. Dominik Hasek made 25 saves in net, and was particularly strong in the first period.

What a way to end the year, playing the Old Course in less than 4 hours. Brilliant! The round started slightly overcast and cool, and remained so the whole round - very comfortable golf. Sandra enjoyed playing the Old again and credited her Q-Ray for at least half her birdies. “This simple piece of jewelry is priceless, without it and my Jazz clubs I’d probably be shooting in the high 70s”.

The Minnesota Wild will play the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs without defenceman Nick Schultz, who had an appendectomy on Monday evening.
“It was a normal procedure,” said Wild general manager Doug Risebrough, who confirmed Schultz suffered a partially ruptured appendix.

I must admit to being a touch perplexed by the interest in Tiger Woods’ foul mouth and his display of anger on Saturday during the third round of the CA Championship. It isn’t like he hasn’t done it before. I remember Woods clearly uttering “motherf***er,” while snapping a ball into the ocean at the 18th at Pebble Beach during the U.S. Open, for example.
