Fisher Returns To Lakers

Derek Fisher asked the Jazz to release him. The Jazz honored his request and released him. A few days later he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. He will be rejoining his former team, where he won 3 championships. He should bring a lot of experience to the Lakers backcourt. He will dish out a lot of assists to Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant. He can still shoot well from long distance too. Most of all he will bring confidence and experience to them, along with good defense. The Lakers are hoping that this move can help them make some noise in the playoffs. Kobe will also have some help on the offensive end. He will not have to take a lot of crazy shots, because Derek Fisher will get him the ball for OPEN shots. He should improve the Lakers and hopefully get them far into the playoffs.

Playing against the Pistons' bench down the stretch, and in front of a crowd that seemed more worried about what was going on at golf's Masters tournament, the Raps blew a chance to move solidly into sixth place in the NBA's Eastern Conference, losing 91-84.

I wrote last week, in the lead up to the first of our trilogy of encounters with Liverpool, of how wary I was of our european encounters with the scousers. And so it proved. In many ways, we were desperately unlucky to only come out of that encounter with just the one goal and a draw to show for our endeavours. We bossed the game, scored first, spurned numerous other chances, and had to endure watching the referee on the night turn down what was a blatant penalty for a foul in the area on Alex Hleb.

More solid golf from one Canadian and an excellent second round by another has two of this country's stars within striking distance of the lead at the Masters.

Calgary's Stephen Ames followed up Thursday's bogey-free round of 70 with another two-under 70 Friday, posting six birdies and four bogeys in Augusta, Ga., to put him four shots back of leader Trevor Immelman.
