The Toronto Raptors rewarded Monday's crowd of 18,855 with a 91-75 victory over the woeful Miami Heat on Fan Appreciation Night at the Air Canada Centre, but head coach Sam Mitchell might have appreciated a stronger effort.

The field for next week’s Masters is now set, barring a unique winner from the Houston event this week. Interesting to see Todd Hamilton, who has struggled for several years, still gets in the field as a former British Open champ (the same factor that kept David Duval in for a long time after his game went south), as well as former PGA Championship winner Shaun Micheel. I received a call this evening from an athlete that wanted some help.
So, I did what I would normally do. I asked her what was happening and instigated a conversation.

Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin didn't disappoint in his NHL playoff debut, scoring the winning goal with 4:32 left in the third period to give his team a 5-4 comeback win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Ovechkin, the league's top scorer this season, also added an assist. Defenceman Mike Green scored twice in the third period to help the Capitals overturn a 4-2 Philadelphia lead, with David Steckel and Donald Brashear also scoring.

The Chicago White Sox have 13 games remaining against Detroit this season, and you can bet Gavin Floyd would like to start the bulk of them.
Floyd flirted with a no-hitter through 7 1/3 innings Saturday afternoon and settled for a one-hit gem in his team's 7-0 blanking of the visiting Tigers.

Do you have a booth at this weekend’s Toronto Star Golf Show? If not, why don’t you? It is the first big golf event of the season and you just know that all of the city’s most avid golfers are going to be there, their appetites whetted for the coming season.
Okay, you’re no dummy. You do have a booth at the show. But why do you have a booth at the show? What do you hope to accomplish with a booth at the show? Are you trying to encourage membership? Are you trying to find golfers that haven’t played your course before? Are you there just because you’re afraid that if you’re not there your nearest competitor will be and people won’t come to your course?
