Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin was suspended for one game Thursday because he has exceeded the flagrant foul limit of five. 

Martin, 30, received a technical for striking reserve centre Boris Diaw in the face 3:52 into the second quarter of Tuesday’s 126-120 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

Martin will miss Saturday’s showdown with the Sacramento Kings (9 p.m. ET), and will be suspended one game for every flagrant foul he commits until season’s end.

He is averaging 12.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.2 blocked shots, 1.1 assists and 30.4 minutes in 65 starts this season, his eighth as a pro.

Martin has averaged 14.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.3 blocks and 32.6 minutes in 476 appearances (463 starts) since he was selected first overall by the New Jersey Nets in the 2000 NBA draft.
