Ipswich Freedom for Sir Bobby
Posted on Jan 02, 2007 under American Football, Football, Golf, World Results |Ipswich legend and club president Sir Bobby Robson will receive the freedom of Ipswich during the club's 30th anniversary celebrations of winning the FA Cup.
Robson guided the club to FA Cup glory in 1978 and then UEFA Cup glory three years later had a statue unveiled in Portman Road in 2002.
James Hehir, Cheif Executive of the Ipswich Borough Council said: 'His contribution goes beyond the world of football. Sir Bobby's health campaigns show an additional side to him. But his success here in Ipswich and, later for England, proves he is a man of great stature.'
Is it really something to celebrate? Going 30 years without winning the illustrious competition? That's another matter best saved for a rainy day.
Congratulations Sir Bobby!
