The Buffalo Bills will play the Pittsburgh Steelers at Rogers Centre this August in the first of eight NFL games to be played in Toronto.

The release of game details Thursday confirms reports that appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in March.

The exhibition game on Aug. 14 at Rogers Centre will kick off a five-year, eight-game (five regular-season, three exhibition) series the Bills will play in Hogtown.

"We are very excited that this is now finally a reality, to come up north and play a storied franchise in the Pittsburgh Steelers," Russ Brandon, the Bills chief operating officer, said during a conference call. "Obviously, it's not that far a drive down to
Pittsburgh here and that group travels well.

"The Steelers and Bills have long, storied histories and it's a great way to kick it off for the series."

The NFL matchup will mark the Steelers' first game in Ontario since beating the Argos 43-16 in an exhibition game on Aug. 3, 1960.

Details have yet to be released on a regular season Bills game to be played in Toronto in 2008-09, though the American franchise is expected to return in December or later, after the Grey Cup, in order to avoid scheduling and viewership conflicts with the Argonauts. 

Seating capacity for the Bills-Steelers contest will be between 50,000 and 54,000, with Toronto Argos season-ticket holders receiving priority access to 20,000 tickets for the eight games.

The rest of the tickets are being sold through an online ticket lottery. 

Reports say ticket pricing will range between $75 and $300 per game.

Buffalo begins its pre-season versus the Washington Redskins the weekend before the Toronto date.
