Placido Polanco’s errorless streaks snapped
Posted on Mar 02, 2008 under American Football, Baseball, Golf, Rowing, Scores & Fixtures, World Results |Placido Polanco of the Detroit Tigers committed a throwing error on Tuesday, ending his major-league records for errorless chances and games by a second baseman.
Polanco was charged with a rare error on a relay to third base in the third inning of a 5-0 matinee loss to the host Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

It was his first error in 911 chances and 186 games, dating back to July 1, 2006.
When Manny Ramirez tripled to centre field, Polanco ranged into the outfield to work a relay with outfielder Brandon Inge, and fired the ball on a hop to third baseman Miguel Cabrera.
Cabrera tried to catch the ball and tag Ramirez with a sweeping backhand, but he missed it and the ball rolled into the dugout.
Ramirez scored on the miscue, which official scorer Chaz Scoggins attributed to Polanco "because the throw was wide and it bounced."
"It is frustrating," Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers said. "Right now, we are the worst team in baseball because of the way we are playing in all areas of the game."
The Tigers remain the only winless team in the majors, going 0-7 for the first time since stumbling to an 0-9 start in 2003 — the season they set an American League record with 119 losses.
"You get angry if people are going through the motions and if they are not trying," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "But that is not what is happening."
