The Boston Bruins have crawled back into their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against Montreal, but it won't accelerate the return of centre Patrice Bergeron.

The NHL team said Monday there isn't a timetable on Bergeron's return from post-concussion syndrome. He may not play again this season.

Bergeron has been held out of the playoffs as a precaution because of the Grade 3 concussion he suffered when driven into the end boards from behind by Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Randy Jones in a game last Oct. 27.

The Boston Bruins could receive a post-season boost as forward Patrice Bergeron has been cleared to play after missing most of the season with a concussion.

According to Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli, Bergeron, 22, was examined by his doctors on Monday and told he could play.
